The City of Ft. Collins Transit Center is a 2006 addition to the Lory Student Center. The construction project created a new entrance at the north end of the Lory Student Center, adding more than 14,000 square-feet and renovating more than 7,000 square-feet of existing space. The enhanced space includes a Transfort customer counter, flat screen monitors displaying departure times and news stories and an indoor passenger waiting area to make public transportation more comfortable and convenient for CSU students and visitors. The new and renovated spaces also feature a Campus Information desk, Cam's Lobby Shop and Bagel Place 2, Off Campus Student Services Office and new meeting rooms. On August 6th, 2007, the Transit Center received the LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. CSU's Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) staff and student interns provided green building research and LEED coordination and documentation for the Transit Center project team. On top of support, IBE students prepared content for permanent educational panels for display in the Transit Center lobby. No student fee dollars or tuition dollars were used. All funding for the CSU Transit Center renovation project was provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) after several years of work by the City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University. The result of this collaboration is a facility that serves our community effectively and efficiently.
