Facilities Management Environmental Reports

Colorado State University's annual utility bill takes up 3.1% of the entire University budget, which equates to about 20.1 million dollars. In an effort to reduce utility expenditure and environmental impacts, the University has been working to create innovate solutions to conserve energy and water on campus. The majority of these initiatives are featured in the Facilities Management Environmental Report, named largely to indicate its departmental, rather than campus-wide, focus.

CSU Climate Action Plan and GHG Inventories

In 2008, CSU became a signatory of the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). The goal of this effort is for university campuses to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to the point of carbon neutrality. In short, the commitment requires participating campuses to take the following steps in pursuit of climate neutrality:

While CSU has compiled GHG emissions inventory's since FY06, the FY09 GHG inventory serves as the baseline year for ACUPCC. CSU completed their first Climate Action Plan (CAP) in September 2010. The Climate Action Plan outlines how and when CSU will achieve climate neutrality.

RecycleMania

RecycleMania Results

RecycleMania is a friendly competition among college and university recycling programs in the United States that provides the campus community with a fun, proactive activity in waste reduction. Over a 10-week period (2-week trial and 8-week official), campuses compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita, or have the highest recycling rate.

In addition to the national competition, CSU conducts an internal competition between the residence halls and university apartments. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's event! Please see the final results below.
