Black History Month

Greetings FM,

The month of February is designated as Black History Month. It was first proposed by black educators and the Black United Students at Kent State University in February 1969. Six years later, Black History Month was celebrated across the U.S. It is also recognized and celebrated around the globe with observations in the UK starting in 1986, Canada in 1995, and Ireland as recent as 2010.

January FM New Hires

In January, Danny Bier joined Building Services, part of the FM Operations section. He is a Lead Custodian II for Team 3 PM. Previous to this position, he ran an 18-acre nursery called Harmony Gardens, and before that he worked for CSU for 6 years in FM Custodial.

Temple Grandin Equine Center Inclusive Design & Signage

Greetings Facilities Management Team,

Located at Foothills Campus, just north of the Pickett Center, the new Temple Grandin Equine Center is substantially complete! Project Manager Brad Johnson of FM Capital Construction reports that they are working through punch list items and commissioning activities, and occupants are moving into their new home. The center offers Equine Assisted Services including therapy for individuals with physical and neurological disabilities and started seeing patients yesterday, February 1.
