Controlled maintenance funding supports maintenance-related activities in Resident Instruction spaces related to buildings, building systems, fixed building equipment, campus infrastructure and critical improvements to site locations. Controlled maintenance is not intended for programmatic upgrades or expansions but focuses on maintaining the integrity and reliability of CSU’s existing physical assets.
Controlled maintenance submissions are accepted from July 1 through November 1 of each fiscal year.
Controlled maintenance projects are ranked based on priority levels. Please review the information below before filling out the request form to determine which priority level you believe your project best aligns with. Final priority level determinations will be made by Facilities Management during the review phase.
Priority 1
Projects required to address immediate threats to health and safety or prevent loss of building or facility use due to catastrophic failure.
Examples: roof failure or collapse; major HVAC, electrical, or water system failure; flooding or water main breaks; BSL-3 lab failures; other significant health or safety hazards.
Priority 2
Projects addressing systems or components at or near the end of useful life where failure is imminent and may escalate to a Priority 1 condition if not addressed.
Examples: aging mechanical or electrical equipment; structural or system deficiencies requiring timely replacement.
Priority 3
Projects that improve functionality, access, aesthetics, system performance or energy efficiency where systems are not at immediate risk of failure.
Examples: accessibility improvements; building system upgrades; energy-efficiency enhancements; aesthetic improvements.
Controlled maintenance project requests may be submitted starting on July 1 of each fiscal year and must be submitted no later than November 1 in order to be considered for funding.
After a controlled maintenance request is submitted, it moves through Dean/VP review before Facilities Management determines whether it will continue into the review and prioritization process.
Following submission of the form, your submission details will be forwarded to your Dean/VP for approval or denial of the project request. You will be notified of your Dean/VP’s decision once they have provided an e-signature and submitted their portion of the request form.
Your project request will move on to the review and prioritization phase of the controlled maintenance process.
Your request will not be considered for controlled maintenance funding.
